The mission of the Summit County Seniors is to improve the quality of life for all Summit County residents and visiting seniors by providing an interchange of ideas and opportunities for its members to participate in social, recreational, and educational activities.

SENIOR SERVICES & EVENTS

Care Navigation Services
Kirstie Taylor, MSW, LCSW, is available to provide resource and referral services for seniors in Summit County. She is available to meet with seniors in need and assist you with accessing community resources and care services. She will provide you with an assessment to identify needs and provide referrals and support in coordinating services. If you would like to receive Care Navigator services, you may call Kirstie directly at (970) 389-5368, or call the Senior Center at (970) 668-2940.

Durable Medical Equipment
Timberline Adult Day Care (located at the Community & Senior Center in Frisco) has a selection of Durable Medical Equipment available as short term loaners for folks recovering from surgical procedures or for rehab. A donation to Timberline is encouraged. Please call Candace at (970) 668-2952 for more information.

Medical Transportation
For those age 60 and over, medical transportation is available to appointments in Denver and outside of Summit County. Two weeks advance notice is requested. Contact the Senior Center to make reservations at (970)668-2940.

Non-Medical Home Care Assistance for Summit County Seniors
If you are a senior living in Summit County you may qualify for a limited number of non-medical home care assistance visits at a reduced rate or at no charge through To the Rescue, a licensed, bonded and insured non-medical home care agency. Please complete the Personal Care Assessment form and mail or fax it to: Summit County Community and Senior Center, Attention: To the Rescue,P.O. Box 1845,Frisco,Colorado 80443, Fax: (970) 668-2954. Medicare Counseling
Free Medicare Counseling is offered once each month at the Summit County Community & Senior Center in Frisco. Please call (970) 668-2940 to schedule an appointment with a trained Medicare counselor. Sessions are offered monthly.

Computer Assistance
Computer help sessions and Seminars are offered Tuesdays from 10AM to noon at the Senior Center. Seniors are invited to come ask their specific computer questions at the help sessions, or join in a Seminar to gain information on a specific computer application. Call or come by the Senior Center to sign up. Donations by attendees to help support the program are welcome! For more info, call 668-2940.

AARP Safe Driving Course
AARP Safe Driving Courses are offered quarterly at the Community & Senior Center by Jay Weides. Cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Sessions are offered quarterly. Call the Senior Center at (970) 668-2940, or come by to register.

Annual Summit Seniors Gigantic Rummage Sale
Summit County Seniors put on a gigantic rummage sale every August at the Summit County Community & Senior Center in Frisco. Sign up to volunteer at the Senior Center, or just come and shop! Proceeds benefit a variety of deserving agencies in Summit County. Don't miss this huge sale!

Alpine Area Agency on Aging Ombudsman Program
Volunteers are being sought to serve as advocates for long term care residents to obtain optimum quality of life and quality of care. Training is provided and self-paced. Contact Patricia Craig at (970) 668-9612, or 800-521-6968, or pcraig@amigo.net.
